The 2007 baseline opinion survey examining a broad range of social, economic and political issues in Ethiopia conducted by IAG in collaboration with the Steadman Group—a private research firm based in Nairobi, Kenya—was the first of its kind. The survey was supplemented with an analytical report which was viewed as useful by the Government of Ethiopia as well as various embassies, donors and NGOs. Another national survey ensued in 2009 which focused more on socio-economic issues including service delivery and poverty, though the results have not yet been published and circulated in a formal report. Through these two landmark polls, IAG has established itself as a key actor in carrying out scientific, well-designed opinion surveys in Ethiopia. In the coming years IAG will continue to bring the views of Ethiopian citizens to the attention of the government and other stakeholders by conducting surveys investigating specific socio-economic issues such as healthcare, education and gender equality focusing more on regional policy performance.
