The regional program examines cross-cutting problems facing countries in the Horn of Africa and neighboring areas—namely, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda and Djibouti—and utilizes research and discussion to help policymakers and key stakeholders find effective ways of tackling them. Over the years, IAG’s work in the regional program have helped to produce quality academic and policy publications as well as facilitate forums that have shed insight on key issues in this part of the world. Below are highlights of past projects undertaken in the regional program. Activities for the upcoming years have yet to be planned as IAG has not secured the required funding.
Quarterly Briefings on Peace and Security in the Horn of Africa: Through this project, IAG commissions scholars and analysts who have considerable knowledge of the region and whose opinions are highly regarded among policy makers, diplomats and regional and international organizations, to produce reports on significant and relevant peace and security issues.
